Vietnam Veterans 14 Days / 13 Nights

This is Vietnam military tour that covers the entire area of battle field Vietnam. It starts from A Luoi, Khe Sanh with a special visit to My Lai- the Memorial Site of Massacre until Cu Chi Tunnels. We use specialist English-speaking local guide for the trip, the one who has very deep knowledge about the site you wish to visit. Wherever feasible, we endeavour to locate Vietnamese veterans and civilians with first-hand knowledge of relevant wartime events.

Day 01: Welcome to Hanoi (-/-/-)

Arrival in Hanoi, one of Asia’s most fascinating cities. The day is free at leisure.

Day 02: Hanoi City Tour (B/-/D)

This morning we drive to the Ho Chi Minh Complex to visit  the mausoleum of the nations’ founder Ho Chi Minh,  the One Pillar Pagoda, built the 11th century, the Presidential Palace and Uncle Ho's house on stilts. We will visit the fascinating Military History Museum where there are pieces of weaponry from the war in the past displayed in the museum courtyard. We will go ahead to Hoa Lo Prison (Hanoi Hilton) and the John McCain Memorial. Our next is B-52 Victory Museum, followed by the amazing walking on the old Long Bien Bridge passing over Red River. Welcome Dinner with guide.

-       Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and his Museum are closed on Monday, Friday and the whole months of Oct/Nov

Day 04: Halong- Halong (B/L/D)

This morning we drive to Halong Bay, one of the most stunning natural wonders of Vietnam. On arrival, we will join our traditional ‘junk’ sailing boat and head out into the Gulf of Tonkin amongst the huge limestone outcrops and emerald waters. We will spend the rest of the day cruising in our boat. Fresh seafood lunch on board followed by visiting fishing village by rustic sampans and optional activities as swimming, kayaking... A sumptuous dinner is served and we will spend the night on board the boat in our own cabins. Overnight in Halong on board.

Day 04: Halong- Hanoi (B/Brunch/-)

Today we continue to cruise to visit more sightseeing and spots in Halong Bay. After reaching the pier around noontime, transfer back to Hanoi, arriving in the afternoon. We will enjoy one-hour walking tour to explore the charming Old Quarter followed by the Water Puppet Show Performance

Day 05: Hanoi- Hue (B/-/-)

This morning transfer to the airport to take flight to Hue.  In the afternoon, we come to visit theImperial Citadel and Forbidden City, created in the 19th century for the Emperors of the Nguyen Dynasty and  Dong Ba market, the most popular local market in Hue.

Day 06: Hue - A Luoi - Khe Sanh - Dong Ha (B/L/-)

Today we drive west to Special Forces Camp A Luoi and then proceed north through the A Shau and Da Krong Valleys to the Da Krong Bridge where we turn west on Route 9. Da Krong Bridge is one of the main branches of the Ho Chi Minh Trail, which leads south to the A Shau valley and the infamous "Hamburger Hill". After lunching in Khe Sanh village, we spend ample time exploring Khe Sanh Combat Base, just east of the Lao border. We will then have drive to Dong Ha.

Day 07: Dong Ha –  Hue (B/-/-)

To day we explore the major historic war sites of Vietnam’s Demilitarized Zone, the former border between North and South Vietnam with its main attractions: Hien Luong Bridge crosses the Ben Hai River marking the former border between North and South Vietnam; Vinh Moc Tunnels where an entire village lived for two and a half years; Truong Son National Cemetery; Camp Carroll,  the largest fire base of the US Marines below the DMZ; the Rock pile, a Marine outpost built on top of a huge outcropping. In the afternoon, we take the drive to Hue

Day 08: Hue- Hoi An (B/-/-)

In the morning, take a boat ride along the romantic Perfume River to visit Thien Mu Pagoda.  Continue on to visit the mausoleum of Emperor Minh Mang (1791-1841), built between 1841 and 1843. Drive to Hoi An via Hai Van Pass and Danang city. We will go over the Hai Van Pass, on the way we  visit explore old French bunkers and take in a view of Da Nang Bay and visit Nam O Bridge and Red Beach II (where the Marines first landed in 1965). We continue on to Marble Mountain where we visit a marble carving shop and climb Marble Mountain. We head to Hoi An, an ancient port town and was home to one of Southeast Asia’s major international harbours from 17thto the19th century.

Day 09: Hoi An- My Son- Hoi An (B/-/-)

Today we visit  My Son Sanctuary, the most important Cham intellectual and religious centre between the 4th and 13th century. Transfer back to Hoi An to make a city tour in the ancient town with famous Japanese Covered Bridge, constructed in 1593 and many temples and Assembly Halls.

Day 10: Hoi An - My Lai - Hoi An (B/-/-)

In the morning, we head southwards along the coastal road to Quang Ngai province where we will visit the site of a massacre of Vietnamese civilians. On the way, we also make a stop to visit Nui Thanh Mountain, the 1st confronting place between Vietcong and US troops. In the afternoon, we drive back to Hoi An

Day 11: Hoi An – Danang - Saigon (B/-/-)

Transfer to the airport to take flight to Saigon. Arrival in Saigon. In the afternoon, we will visit the main attractions of Ho Chi Minh City: the Reunification Palace (also known as Independence Palace); the nearby Post Office and the Notre Dame Cathedral, the War Remnants Museum and Ben Thanh Market, the most popular local market of the city where you could buy the local products.

Day 12: Saigon - Me Kong (B/L/-)

Today we drive to the Mekong Delta region. Upon arrival Cai Be Province, we take a boat ride visit a local orchard and the Cai Be Floating Market, an interesting style of market in the Mekong Delta. Leave Cai Be, we will see the coconut candy, rise crispy cake, rice paper making workshop… continue to visit the local house and strolling on the village paths. Lunch with the local delicacy - an Elephant’s-Ear fish. After that you walk around the village to sea local's daily activities if you wish.

Day 13: Saigon - Cu Chi Tunnels - Saigon (B/-/-)

In the morning we drive to Cu Chi Tunnels to visit this underground village, which became legendary during the 1960s for its role in the Vietnam War. Back to Saigon.

Transfer to the airport to take flight to your next destination
